Minnesota Vikings players were informed late Saturday night that running back Adrian Peterson will not play in today's game against the Eagles.

Peterson (foot) and fellow running back Toby Gerhart (hamstring) were both listed as questionable for week 15 against Philadelphia after returning to light practices on Friday.

However, once the Vikings promoted running back Joe Banyard from the practice squad, it was a pretty good sign that Peterson or Gerhart weren't going to be able to play.

With both Peterson and Gerhart out of the line-up, the Vikings will start second year man Matt Asiata who had 3 carries for 9 yards last season for Vikings.
