PHILADELPHIA (973espn.com) - The police investigation into a alleged sexual assault by Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor at a South Philadelphia strip club has been turned over to Philadelphia district attorney Seth Williams, according to Philadelphia Magazine.

“The [investigative] package has been sent to the D.A.’s Office for their review,” Police Commissioner Richard Ross told Philadelphia Magazine on Thursday night.

Williams' office remains tight-lipped, however.

"At this time we can't confirm or deny anything," Jennifer Jones, a spokeswoman for the DA's office, said.

It will be Williams' decision whether the second-year receiver face charges stemming from the allegations of a 27-year-old exotic dancer at Cheerleaders Gentleman's Club, just hours after the team's mandatory minicamp wrapped up.

Agholor went to the club with teammates Fletcher Cox and Connor Barwin, who both released statements distancing themselves from the incident, Barwin to the Philadelphia Inquirer and Cox through Twitter.

Eagles' executive vice president Howie Roseman, meanwhile, declined comment on the issue last week while announcing the long-term contract extension for Cox, citing the ongoing investigation.

“Unfortunately I can’t comment on an ongoing investigation,” Roseman said when queried on Agholor. “Appreciate the question but I have no comment on that.”

Agholor’s attorney, Fortunato Perri Jr., has repeatedly told Philadelphia Magazine that his client did not commit a crime.

“We’ve been in touch with the investigators, but I can’t comment on the progress of the investigation,” Perri told the magazine. “It’s always difficult when something like this happens. [Agholor] has been staying close with his family and doing the best he possibly can.”

Roseman, meanwhile, wouldn’t clarify if he expected Agholor to be with the team in training camp.

“I just go back to my initial answer. I apologize, but it’s an ongoing investigation and I can’t comment on it,” he said.

The spin from the Agholor camp has been setup with the allegations stemming from the wideout’s failure to pay the dancer an agreed upon fee.

New Jersey Advanced Media reported that Agholor and the dancer agreed to go to a private room for an hour but something happened and the accuser left shortly after entering the room. According to the source explaining the situation, Agholor agreed to pay the woman $1,400 for their time together but docked her $600 for leaving early.

A separate NFL source tells 973espn.com that the dispute arose over an alleged sexual act performed on Agholor and the ensuing payment, resulting in a scorned-stripper scenario.

The dancer allegedly left the bar after the incident, never accusing Agholor of rape until later. Meanwhile, the NJ Advance Media source claims multiple others dancers on duty at the time told management that Agholor did nothing wrong, presumably outside of soliciting prostitution.
