Chip Kelly loves himself some competition.

So much so that he has forced it to trickle down all the way to the third string quarterback position.

The roster spot that has belonged to fourth round pick Matt Barkley that last two seasons, all of a sudden, is up for grabs.

Enter Tim Tebow.

The Eagles signed Tebow this offseason after bringing him in for a workout some months back, the former Heisman winner was out of football for two years prior to that.

Newly acquired quarterback Sam Bradford has been limited at OTA's thus far recovering from ACL surgery, Barkley and Tebow have seen an increase in repetitions in practice.

Barkley has been a subject of trade rumors since the signing of Tebow and he hasn't done much to secure a back up or even third string job in his brief time with the Eagles.

Still Barkley continues to say all the right things and remains confident, via NJ.com:

"He's not taking my reps on the field," Barkley said following Thursday's practice. "He's an arm we need for the team, with G.J. making the move to receiver. Tim's just one of us. He's trying to make the team just like we all are. It hasn't effected my approach to how I feel the team thinks of me or how I'm going out to compete every day."I'm not looking to compete for the third spot. That is, what it is based off contract numbers. I'm just looking to play my best. If that winds up being third, then so be it. If it ends up being the first, I'll be happy with that. I can't control how money talks. I'm just going to perform how I see fit."

Judging by that mindset, Tebow has an uphill battle ahead of him if he wants to unseat Barkley for a roster spot on this team

The games will begin at Novacare this summer.
