Fenway Park is hosting a sports event this weekend.

No, David Ortiz wont be batting clean up, rather college football is coming to the Beantown ballpark.

The Boston College Eagles and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame will do battle at the historic Red Sox stadium on Saturday night.

It's part of their Shamrock Series, which has brought them all around the country since 2009 to places like San Antonio, Yankee Stadium and this year to Boston.

As you can see, the stadium looks awesome as the Massachusetts State Police provided a flyover photograph of how the field is taking shape. The famous Green Monster is off to the sidelines, while the opposing goal posts are behind home plate and down the right field line.

Oddly enough, the game is scheduled as an Irish home game even though there should be many BC fans in attendance considering who they are playing.

Fenway Park is no stranger to football games in it's century old history, The Boston Globe takes a look at the timeline of football games played there.

Fenway Park also hosted a Winter Classic NHL game in 2010.
