PHILADELPHIA (973espn.com) - The Eagles have promoted cornerback C.J. Smith to their 53-man roster on Thursday and also signed tight end Anthony Denham to the practice squad.

Smith, a teammate of Carson Wentz at North Dakota State, initially made the final roster back in September but was quickly released when Philadelphia made a series of waiver-wire pickups. He then settled in on the practice squad for the first six weeks.

Smith takes the open spot created due to Lane Johnson’s 10-game PED suspension, which began on Tuesday.

Denham, 25, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2014 by the Houston Texans out of Utah and is the latest domino to fall on the PS as the Eagles also released OG Darrell Greene and FB Andrew Bonnet earlier this week and replaced them by bringing back former Villanova LB Don Cherry and defensive back Duke Thomas.
