For the second straight week, safety Patrick Chung was declared inactive for the game, meaning he will not dress and will miss the Giants game.

The news is not a shock, he practiced on a limited basis this week, but it means Philadelphia will be facing New York – who has one of the top slot receivers in the NFL in Victor Cruz – without one of its starting safeties. Chung will miss the game due to a injured shoulder.

That means for the second straight week, rookie Earl Wolff will start at safety in place of Chung, who had started the first three games for Philadelphia. Chung, a fifth-round draft pick struggles last week against Denver, and will now face Peyton's brother Eli this week - no easy task.

The Giants will also be missing their starting cornerback as Jayron Hosley is inactive for Sunday's Week 5 game against the Eagles with a hamstring injury.  Trumaine McBride is starting,in Hosley's place.

Eagles inactives: QB Matt Barkley, S Patrick Chung, CB Shaun Prater, T Matt Tobin, T Dennis Kelly, DE Damion Square, TE Emil Igwenagu.

Giants inactives: OL David Baas, DL Linval Joseph, TE Adrien Robinson, WR Louis Murphy and QB Ryan Nassib, CB Jayron Hosley, DB Aaron Ross and DB Corey Webster.

Reaction:

Chung will again sit this week out, Earl Wolff will make his second NFL start in this place. This will be a match-up to watch but I expect the Giants to lean on their running game in Week 5 to keep their banged-up defense off-the-field.

The Giants placed Aaron Ross on injured reserve with a back injury, ending his season, Linval Joseph is out and Corey Webster will not play.  The Giants were so beat-up on defense, that they acquired linebacker Jon Beason from the Panthers in exchange for an undisclosed late-round draft pick in 2014.

Vinny Curry is also active for the third straight week, the hope here is the Eagles use him more this week to try to get some pressure on Manning with the Giants offensive line having major problems.

The Giants' front five will look like this versus Philadelphia: LT William Beatty, LG Kevin Boothe, C Jim Cordle, RG David Diehl, and RT Justin Pugh.  During the week, the Giants placed Chris Snee on injured reserve, ending his season, The NY Daily News reports center David Baas may need season-ending neck surgery.

The Pick: Eagles 34, Giants 24
