Eagles left tackle Jason Peters has ruptured his Achilles a second time, setting back his recovery three weeks according to Derrick Gunn from CSNPhilly.com.

The Eagles have brought in former Buffalo tackle Demetrius Bell to take over for Peters this season. The Eagles can get out of Bell's contract without any salary cap hit in 2013, but might have to re-think that if Peters isn't able to make it back.

A second injury to the Achilles pretty much guarantees that Peters will be done for the entire season.  But the interesting story will be Bell and his future in Philadelphia.  The Eagles can get out of Bell's contract without any salary cap hit in 2013. So, in essence, it's a one-year deal the Eagles could opt to "extend" beyond this season if Bell performs well in 2012.

Many thought Bell would be a one-and-done player, now he might be the long-term answer if Peters can't return.

One has to wonder if Peters will ever be anywhere near the player he was in 2001.
