The Eagles have placed starting left guard Evan Mathis on injured reserve/designated to return with a sprained MCL.  He'll be first eligible to return in Week 10 against the Panthers.

This is a huge blow to the Eagles offensive line, Mathis has graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 guard in each of the past three seasons.

The Eagles have also place inside linebacker Najee Goode, who has a torn pectoral muscle, and right tackle Allen Barbre, who had surgery for his high-ankle sprain on IR - they are out for the rest of the season.

Andrew Gardner replaced Mathis in Sunday's win over the Jaguars, but he's expected to slot in at right tackle with Allen Barbre sidelined. The Eagles signed Wade Smith earlier today, Dennis Kelly is also an option to start at left guard this week.

Linebacker Emmanuel Acho and tackle Kevin Graf have also been added from practice squad.
