The Philadelphia Eagles fired Chip Kelly on Tuesday night.

A team statement penned by team owner Jeffrey Lurie announced the firing of Lurie along with VP of Player Personnel Ed Marynowitz.

Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur will assume coaching duties for the final game of the season at the New York Giants.

“We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward,” Lurie said in the statement.

The statement also names Howie Roseman and senior adviser Tom Donahoe as two executives that will lead the charge in hiring a new coach.

Kelly was 26-21 as Eagles head coach and had two years remaining on his five contract.
