UPDATE: Jason Babin joined "Coach & Company" on 97.3 ESPN FM Tuesday night and talked about his release from the Philadelphia Eagles and what's next for the defensive end this season:

From Earlier: According to an Eagles spokesperson, the team has released defensive end Jason Babin.

"We appreciate everything that Jason has given this team over the last couple of years, by releasing him today, this gives us an opportunity to give more playing time to some of younger guys in the rotation," head coach Andy Reid said in a statement.

Babin, who had 18 sacks a year ago, personified the wide-9 and was never one to shy away from the media or battling on Twitter with Eagles fans.

Babin has been losing snaps after each game yo young players such as Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry.

In a corresponding move, the Eagles placed wide receiver DeSean Jackson on IR subsequently ending his season.

This is likely a sign of things to come before the end of the regular season.
