PHILADELPHIA (973espn.com) — With the draft out of the way the Eagles have resumed their search for a personnel man to run the day-to-day operations of the department.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Philadelphia has been granted permission to interview Bears college scouting director Joe Douglas.

Douglas was hired by Bears GM Ryan Pace last May after spending 15 years in the Ravens organization under the highly-regarded Ozzie Newsome. In Baltimore Douglas was given a lot of credit for pushing for Joe Flacco.

With the Eagles Douglas would oversee both the pro and college scouting departments and report to Howie Roseman, the Eagles' executive VP of football operations and de facto general manager.

Semantics aside Chicago could have blocked the Eagles from interviewing Douglas because he would not be getting the GM tag and would be second in command here but Pace decided to give his protege the opportunity.

The Eagles interviewed a few candidates earlier this year for the position including Steelers pro personnel coordinator Brandon Hunt and NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah, a former Eagles scout, but suspended the search until after the draft in order to be able to fish from a wider school of talent.

That's because contracts of most NFL personnel people usually expire in May after the draft.

Douglas is expected to interview Thursday and two NFL sources have confirmed to 973espn.com that he is expected to be offered the job. Others are getting similar information.
