PHILADELPHIA (973espn.com) - Playoffs or not, the NFL calendar marches on and while Doug Pederson and Co. prepare for the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Howie Roseman is making plans which have implications on the 2019 season.

The Eagles are going to sign star CFL receiver Marken Michel, the brother of New England running back Sony Michel,  to a futures contract, according to the Calgary Sun.

Michel, 25, was an emerging star on the 2018 Grey Cup champion Calgary Stampeders, amassing 72 receptions for 1,215 receiving yards and eight touchdowns over two seasons north of the border after playing his college ball at UMass. Set to become a free agent in February, the Stamps released Michel early so he could pursue his NFL goals which began as an undrafted free agent of Minnesota back in 2016.

After the Vikings released Michel, he moved to the CFL where he was nominated as the CFL West Division Rookie of the Year in 2017. Last season was cut short by a broken scapula but Michel was regarded as a top playmaker in the league when healthy.

A 5-foot-11, 190-pound prospect Michel will be joining a position in which the Eagles need to make decisions on three pending free agents: Golden Tate, Mike Wallace and Jordan Matthews.
