The Philadelphia Eagles today announced they have signed LB Jason Williams to the active roster and released LB Adrian Moten.

Entering his fourth NFL season, Williams (6-1, 244) has played in 28 games with Carolina (2010-12) and Dallas (2009-10), posting 36 tackles, 28 special teams tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. The Chicago, IL, native was released by the Carolina Panthers during this year’s final roster cut down. In 2011, Williams appeared in 14 for the Panthers and led the squad with 15 tackles on special teams, along with a forced fumble, and added 21 stops on defense. After being claimed off waivers by the Panthers on 11/3/10, Williams played in four games and was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury on 12/14/10. Originally a third-round draft choice of the Cowboys in 2009, Williams played in five games with Dallas prior to his time in Carolina.

The 26-year-old started 35 games at Western Illinois, producing an FCS-record 14 forced fumbles as well as 45 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, and 289 total tackles. He earned first-team All-Gateway Conference recognition as both a junior in 2007 and senior in 2008. Williams began his career as a strong safety before being switched to linebacker following his redshirt freshman season in 2005.

Williams will wear jersey #57.
