Eagles, Vinny Curry Agree to Five-Year Deal
According to reports, the Eagles have signed defensive end Vinny Curry to a five-year, $47.25 million contract through 2020. The deal includes $23 million guaranteed, $10 million of which appears to be coming immediately as a signing bonus.
The former second round pick, No. 59 overall in the 2012 NFL Draft, has 16.5 sacks over the past three years.
Curry is a great addition to the Eagles new 4-3 scheme and should be a great pairing with defensive tackle Fletcher Cox. While he was not a good fit in the 3-4 scheme ex-defensive coordinator Billy Davis ran, his pass rush ability should be a great fit in Jim Schwartz's "Wide 9" defense.
He is now the fourth player Howie Roseman has locked up since taking over for Chip Kelly as the defacto-GM. Curry joins Zach Ertz, Brent Celek and Lane Johnson has Eagles who got new deals this offseason.
Next up, Sam Bradford...
