The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired goaltender Brian Boucher from the Carolina Hurricanes - it will be the fourth time Boucher will play for the orange and the black.

The team also acquired defenseman Mark Alt from the Carolina Hurricanes in return for forward Luke Pither.

Presumably, Boucher will compete with Michael Leighton for the back-up role to starter Ilya Bryzgalov.  Boucher had been skating with some of the locked-out Flyers players but  appeared in just 10 games last season after a severe groin injury in early December kept him on the shelf until March, he went 1-6-1 in those games with a .881 save percentage and a 3.41 goals against average for the Hurricanes.

The Flyers also signed Kurtis Foster to a contract.

Foster wasn't offered a contract by the Wild prior to the lockout, so he was an unrestricted free agent. The 31-year old defender is 6-5, 230 pounds and played in 51 games last year split with the Ducks, Devils and Wild, recording 14 points. During the lockout he played in SM-liiga, putting up six points in 13 games.
