The Flyers have added a 6-4, 250 pound defender who has been excelling in his enhanced role as a shutdown blueliner defender this season in Tampa Bay by trading for Pavel Kubina in exchange for two draft picks according to Darren Dreger.

Kubina has racked up plenty of hits and blocked shots, something the Flyers blueliners have been lacking this season.  He had been asked for a list of teams that he would be willing to accept a trade to and has been a healthy scratch the past week.

In Kubina, the Flyers are getting a veteran defender who like Chris Pronger can eat up minutes. While they haven't replaced Pronger but between him and the recently acquired Nicklas Grossman, the Flyers have certainly helped add depth to their defensive. If they can get Iily Bryzgalov's head back on straight the Flyers could be a dangerous team to play against in the playoffs.

The Sports Bash will have plenty more on the Flyers after a 6-4 loss to the Pens, poor goatending and more.
