Ron Hextall is a quick evaluator.

Just two days was enough for the Flyers general manager to feel comfortable in deciding the fate of Craig Berube, he was fired on Friday morning.

Hextall held his season ending press conference on Wednesday and also joined Mike Gill on 97.3 ESPN FM and said he did not have a decision made one way or the other.

"I dont operate like that," Hextall told Gill.

Berube was fired less than two seasons on the job, with several severed relationships including Vinny Lecavalier and goaltender Steve Mason at times.

Dave Isaac, Courier Post and 973espn.com Flyers insider, joined me on The Warmup today and talked about the firing of Berube and where the team and Hextall goes from here.

This team is a roster that could be attractive to some candidates, but then again a firing of Berube might not change much.

Isaac listed candidates such as: Mike Babcock, Todd McLellan and Terry Murray as coaches that could be filling the vacancy, while rebuffing another.

"No chance John Tortorella gets hired here," Isaac said.

Hextall did say today that he would like to have a head coach in place by the time the NHL Draft takes place next month, the NHL Draft Lottery is this weekend.
