The Flyers had a small taste of the playoffs last season, after missing the post-season in 2014-2015. The team brought in new head coach Dave Hakstol and made big strides during his first season at the helm.

ESPN Insider Corey Pronman ranked every team’s pipeline, or farm system, and the Flyers ranked sixth on his list.

It's hard to criticize the Flyers' system. Talented all-around centers? Check. Dynamic big defensemen? Check. Ridiculous goaltender depth? Check. Depth through their amateur and professional ranks? Check. Players with star upside? Check. They don't have an Auston Matthews-caliber player in the pipeline, but that player doesn't stay in your system longer than three months anyhow. Ron Hextall emphasizes patience in developing players, so I do expect this system to remain at a high level for another two seasons as the build continues.

Despite not seeing any NHL action, 19-year-old Travis Konecny has a tremendous upside and has the potential to be a productive member of the Flyers. The center was drafted No. 24 overall in the 2015 draft and could probably could play in the NHL this season.

Ivan Provorov was taken by Philadelphia with the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. This past season, Provorov was the CHL's defenseman of the year and another one of the Flyers’ talented first-round defenseman. This past season, Provorov had 21 goals and 73 points in 62 WHL games in 2015-16.

Travis Sanheim and Sam Morin are two more defenders that could have a role with the Flyers sooner than later. Sanheim, was the 17th pick in the 2014 draft, and 6-foot-4, had 15 goals and 66 points in 52 WHL games last season. Morin, who is 6-foot-7, was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2013 draft

This year, the Flyers added German Rubtsov with the 22nd pick and Carter Hart was the first goaltender taken in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft at pick No. 48 by the Philadelphia Flyers.
