The popular discussion among Flyers fans, certainly as evidenced by the questions in this on-the-fly #FlyersMailbag edition, is about Nick Schultz.

Ron Hextall has been working on potentially re-signing the 32-year-old defenseman, who just might be the team's best defenseman this season. He's certainly been their most consistent.

"We've had dialogue, but we'll keep that internal," Hextall said Thursday in a conference call with reporters. "I don't have an answer for you."

While the Flyers have had issues on the blueline in the past, next season they'll likely bring on at least one young player. It wouldn't be shocking to me if both Shayne Gostisbehere and Samuel Morin made the squad next season. So with Luke Schenn, Andrew MacDonald, Mark Streit, Braydon Coburn and Nick Grossmann all under contract for next season, keeping Schultz and having a youngster step up seems unlikely.

Anyway, let's see what specific questions there are regarding Schultz and beyond...
