The picture of what the Flyers' roster will look like in September when training camp begins may have taken its final step Tuesday.

Or at least one of the final steps.

Defenseman Brandon Manning signed a two-year contract, reportedly worth $1.95 million, Tuesday. The signing avoids an arbitration hearing that was planned for August 2.

Manning, 26, played 56 games for the Flyers last season with a goal and seven points. He was, at times, the team's seventh defenseman. Looking forward, he might be falling even further down the depth chart.

If 2015 first-round draft pick Ivan Provorov makes the roster, which is expected by some, things could get really crowded on the defense corps considering the Flyers will get Michael Del Zotto back after he missed the end of the season with torn tendons in his left wrist.
