The Flyers have signed 2012 third round draft pick Shayne Gostisbehere to an entry-level contract.

Fresh off his Frozen Four performance in Philadelphia with Union College, the defenseman will report to the Flyers AHL affiliate, Adirondack Phantoms.

Gostisbehere was named the most outstanding player of the tournament tallying a goal and two assists to go along with a +7 and now has a championship ring to his credit.

Gostisbehere will forgo his senior season when he reports to Adirondack on Thursday which is not too far from his home base at Union College.

Since the Flyers signed the blue liner after the regular season concluded, he will not be eligible for thew Stanley Cup playoffs and will just compete in the Phantoms three final regular season games.

Gostisbehere will be eligible for the Flyers roster next season on a competition basis, assuming he receives the correct seasoning at the AHL level.

Flyers general manger Paul Holmgren seems to be suring up his defense for the future with the addition of Gostisbehere and inking Andrew MacDonald to a six-year contract extension Tuesday morning.

Gostisbehere is expected to travel and practice with the Flyers for their playoff run once the Phantoms regular season has concluded.
