The Philadelphia Flyers have signed 6-6, 211-lb defenseman Samuel Morin to a three-year, entry-level contract, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.

Morin, 18 (7/12/1995), was drafted by the Flyers in the first round (11th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Since joining the team, Morin participated in the team’s summer prospect camp and the rookie camp earlier this month before main training camp opened.

He played 23:14 in last night’s exhibition game vs. Washington, recording one assist. He is slated to play tonight vs. the New York Rangers.

A native of Lac-Beauport, Quebec, Morin has spent the last two seasons with Rimouski Oceanic in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Last season, he posted four goals and 12 assists for 16 points in 46 games, while gathering 117 PIM and a plus-10 rating.
