For the first time since 2011, Penn State is going to play in a bowl game.

The Nittany Lions (6-6) will face Boston College (7-5) of the ACC in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Dec. 27 in New York City.   The game can be heard live on 97.3 ESPN radio, your home for Penn State football.

NCAA sanctions on Penn State's program in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal banned the Lions from the postseason for four years in July, 2012.  However, the ban was lifted in September of this year.

The Lions have a lot of local flavor on their roster; running back Bill Belton of Winslow Twp., Linebacker Brandon Bell went to Oakcrest high, Tight end Mike Gesicki went to Southern Regional, defensive tackle Austin Johnson attended St. Augustine Prep and freshman defensive tackle Antoine White is from Millville.
