Alex Webster, the star running back for the Giants who later coached the team for four years, as died. He was 80.

The Giants say Webster died at a hospital in Florida on Saturday.

Webster played for New York from 1955-64 and was the head coach from 1969-1973. He is fifth on the franchise list with 4,638 yards rushing and also ran for 39 touchdowns.

Team co-owner John Mara calls Webster “one of the all-time great Giants,” and says he will be missed.

The former North Carolina State star also played for Montreal in the CFL in 1953-54.

Webster was inducted into the Giants’ Ring of Honor on Dec. 4. He played his entire NFL career with the Giants.
