Ghost Staying? Flyers Make Move to Waive Sam Gagner

It seems that defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere will be staying in Philadelphia.

The Flyers have placed veteran forward Sam Gagner on waivers on Tuesday with the intention of keeping him with the organization at the AHL assuming he goes unclaimed.

With defenseman Mark Streit returning from to the lineup after undergoing surgery, the Flyers were able to clear space off their cap by the Gagner transaction. Gostisbehere will remain with the team because of this move as there was a possibility he'd be sent down when Streit was healthy enough to return.

Gagner had a disappointing start with the Flyers since being acquired from the Edmonton Oilers in the off season. He has been in and out of the lineup due to injuries and coaches decision. He has just five points in 18 games this season.

Gagner is a free agent at the end of this season.
