The first Friday night on the NJSIAA playoffs is in the books, here are the final scores and some quick thoughts on the first night of the playoffs in South Jersey group III and IV, plus our upcoming schedule on 97.3 ESPN and 1450 AM the rest of the HS Football season.

South Jersey Group IV
Millville 19, Rancocas Valley Regional 0
Triton Regional 26, Southern Regional 7
Washington Twp 42, Williamstown 23
Pennsauken 31, Atlantic City 9

A pair of upsets in Group IV kicked off the first night of action and now it gives CAL member Millville a home game against Washington Twp next week .  Southern Regional, hosting its first ever playoff game was thought to have a shot as the four-seed, but same out flat and it eliminated.  Pennsauken showed it meant business by taking care of a very good Atlantic City team.

South Jersey Group III
Timber Creek 23, Lacey Township 0
Hammonton 24, Kingwsay Regional 10
Moorestown 34, Oakcrest 7

Timber Creek took care of business with their stingy defense pitching a shutout, while Oakcrest who had four consecutive shutout was blown out at Moorestown.  Hammonton struggle and was sloppy early and was tied 10-10 with Kingsway in the third quarter, but David Williams help the Blue Devils pull away late to set-up a match-up with Moorestown next week (On 97.3 ESPN)

Upcoming schedule:

Friday, 11/18
Moorestown at Hammonton, 97.3 ESPN
Montclair Kimberly/Queen of Peace winner at Holy Spirit, 1450 AM

Hammontown will need to play better then they did in their win over Kingsway, Moorestown is a spread team, while Hammonton relies on the ground-game.  Holy Spirit will be a favorite vs either opponent, and while their two losses led to a disappointing regular season, a State title is in reach.

Thanksgiving Thursday, 11/24
Mainland at EHT, 97.3 ESPN
Holy Spirit at Atlantic Ciy, 1450-AM

Thanksgiving day game with scores all over the CAL, Mainland and EHT, both looking to end the season at .500 with a win.  With Atlantic City getting knocked off  and Holy Spirit are looking to a State title, the Vikings might have more to play for in this game,  but no doubt this game is very meaningful to both.

Saturday, 11/26
Hammonton at St. Joe, 97.3 ESPN

Similar to the Holy Spirit/AC rivalry, this game is for gaining future players, pride and more - just as important as winning a State title in some cases.

December 2nd
State Finals, TBD

St. Joe, Holy Spirit, Hammonton and Millville all still have their sites set on this date and winning a State title.
