A long and arduous high school basketball season is finished for most squads in New Jersey. The Ocean City girls and Atlantic City boys are an exception.
Both teams earned South Jersey championships Monday night and prevailed in state semifinal matchups Wednesday. The Vikings and Red Raiders are ready to compete for a state title Sunday afternoon.

Ocean City takes on Jefferson Township in the New Jersey Group III championship game at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River. Atlantic City is seeking a state title repeat and faces Linden in the Group IV championship matchup at Rutgers University.

Players from each team joined host Tyler Donohue in studio Thursday for High School Hoops Tonight.

Senior center Jahleem Montague and junior guard Isaiah Graves talked about the Vikings quest for another title, while the Red Raiders were represented by several standouts. Ocean City players Julia Duggan, Tess Solazzo, Natalie Landi, Mary Kate Mateer, Taylor Price, Sierra Schoenewald, Ellen Pfeifle and Nicole Piergross helped pack the Admiral Nissan Studio. We learned a lot more about the opponents that await Ocean City and Atlantic City on Sunday.

Newark Star-Ledger basketball reporter Richard Greco discussed what could make the difference in each matchup. He dissected both the Linden boys team and Jefferson Township girls squads. Players from Ocean City and Atlantic City were in studio to react to some of Greco’s analysis.

Hall of Fame South Jersey basketball reporter Tom Williams also joined Tyler to talk about both championship matchups.
