The New Jersey Nets have announced today that Holy Spirt grad and former NC State star, Dennis Horner has made the team.

"Billy King sat next to me and told me that I made the roster while I was in the gym."

The Nets open their season on Monday against the Washington Wizards at 7 p.m. Their first home game is Tuesday against Atlanta at the Izod Center in Newark.

Horner who was a star at Holy Spirit from 2002-2006 averaged 17.4 points per game during his senior season in which the Spartans went 24-3 and won the CAL title game over Atlantic City 45-43.

"Guys I played with are still my friends. Playing against AC High and St. Aug with their fans, I'll never forget."

Getting a chance to play in New Jersey is something that is special to Horner.

"Besides the 76ers, NJ is the best place to be. About 35 people came up to our first preseason game vs. Knicks."
