The NJSIAA playoffs start this weekend and the Cape-Atlantic League has a full slate of teams participating in the first round of games.

97.3 ESPN FM is proud to be carrying the Non-public Group IV first round playoff game that features the St. Augustine Hermits hosting the Green Knights of St. Joseph's.

The Green Knights will present a difficult challenge for the Hermits as they come in ranked third in the state of New Jersey, 38th in the country. The Green Knights head into the playoffs with a 6-3 record, with a 3-1 record in league.

Two of their losses on the schedule came to teams out of state: IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL and St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia.

The team is coached by former New Orleans Saints guard Augie Hoffmann, who is also a alumnus of the football program. Hoffmann went on to play college football at Boston College in the early 2000's before returning to his roots.

The program at St. Joseph's also produced NFL players in Junior Galette, Devin McCourty and Jason McCourtey.

So as you can see, the Green Knights are a storied, successful football program in the state of New Jersey. Although the Hermits come into the game undefeated, they figure to be an underdog on paper.

The Hermits will have the advantage of hosting the playoff game in Richland, NJ on Friday night. It's one of the few times in the past several seasons that the Hermits will not have to travel to north Jersey for their playoff game.

So the Richland Rowdies should be out in full force on Friday night to cheer on their Hermit players in what hopes to be a first round victory in the NJSIAA Playoffs. Catch all the action on 97.3 ESPN FM and LIVE video on our website.
