(VOORHEES) - The Flyers' roster dwindled down a little more Saturday morning as three players were sent to the American Hockey League, leaving 27 players left in camp.

Despite scoring three goals in three games, defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere was sent to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms along with fellow defensemen Robert Hagg and center Nick Cousins.

Gostisbehere, 22, was very even keeled Friday night after a 5-2 preseason win over the New York Islanders. There was always going to be a lot of competition to fight through in order for him to make the roster and even now that he and Hagg are gone there are eight defensemen.

"I know what I’m up against," he said. "Mr. (Ron) Hextall has told me once again, ‘Trust the process.’ That’s exactly what I’m gonna do. Of course there’s no rush right now. I know what I’m up against. He’s got a plan for everyone. You’ve just got to trust him."

While Hagg wasn't perceived to be a serious contender to make the final roster, he opened some eyes by staying as long as he did. The 20 year old played for the Phantoms last season, his first North American campaign.
