Freddie Mitchell Sentenced to 37 Months, He Was All Smiles at Phillies Spring Training

Former Philadelphia Eagles WR Freddie Mitchell has been sentenced to 37 months in prison for his involvement in a tax fraud scheme.

Mitchell had previously plead guilty to being part of a tax fraud scheme in which he cheated the federal government out of millions.

Mitchell faced a maximum of 10 years behind bars, but struck a deal with prosecutors pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to file a false claim.

He's been ordered to surrender by December 6th.

During Phillies spring training in March, Mitchell was enjoying time at a Phillies game and appeared on 'The Sportsbash' with Mike Gill and Todd Ranck.

Mitchell was drafted by the Eagles in the first round of the 2001 NFL Draft and will forever be known in the legendary 4th-and-26 conversion against the Green Bay Packers in a NFC Divisional playoff game.

In that interview, Mitchell likened himself to a SS in baseball because of the way his quarterback Donovan McNabb used to throw the ball.
