In a 4-0 win last night in Atlanta, Maikel Franko, the Phillies' youngest position player in 14 years, made his major-league debut.

Batting 7th and playing third-base, Franco's first game with the Phillies was slightly underwhelming. Miakel went 0 for 3 with three groundouts, but in his fourth and final at-bat, Franco lifted a sacarfrice fly into centerfield scoring Darin Ruf, and recording his first RBI in his major-league career. Franco also made of the most of his work at third base when tested. Though Franco didn't dazzle the Phillies fans with the power he's displayed in Triple-A Lehigh Valley, when the Phillies needed another insurance run, he delivered. He's certainly a welcomed addition to the Phillies September roster, and like most Phillies fans, I look forward to watching him continue to develop....as long as he can get some at-bats.
