PHILADELPHIA — Claude Giroux thought it was a joke.

After all, Michael Raffl is one of the funniest guys on the team, always with a smile on his face and willing to prank whoever he can.

In reality, the captain’s linemate had passed out on the bench.

“Michael is a funny guy and sometimes he does something funny,” Giroux said. “I (thought) he was joking around.

“I told him to move. Then I realized he wasn’t joking around. Then I started freaking out and started yelling at Jimmy (McCrossin, the team’s director of medical services). It wasn’t a fun moment. The whole team was pretty worried. But he looks good right now. It was pretty scary.”

The collapse came three minutes into the second period, just after the Flyers had taken the lead over the New York Rangers. Just after Raffl left, the Rangers scored on the power play to tie the game.

There were few smiles from the Flyers until Raffl came into the locker room at intermission and told his teammates he’d be all right.
