The Flyers’ are 6-2-2 over their past 10 games, and 22-8-3 since Dec. 4, when they ended their 10-game winless streak, but that run of solid play is about to be tested.

With starting goalie Brian Elliott already sidelined following core muscle surgery, Michal Neuvirth exited Sunday afternoon's game against the Rangers because of a lower-body injury and did not return.

Backup Alex Lyon, stepped into just his fourth NHL game, stopping 25 of 26 shots in a 7-4 win.

Neuvirth, who has struggled with injuries throughout his career, was making his fourth straight start in place of Elliott.

The NHL trade deadline is Feb. 26, so the team could look to bring in a veteran if Neuvirth is out for an extended period of time.
