SCRIPTUALS: Penn State releases a statement that no decision has been made on the Joe Paterno statue outside Beaver Stadium. ESPN reported Saturday that the school decided to keep it for the time being. ... Meanwhlie, Sara Ganim (Patriot-News) offers a few takeaways from the Freeh report you might not have caught.
SCRIPTUALS: Jon Heyman (CBS Sports) with 10 teams who might be interested in trading for Cole Hamels before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. Among them? The Angels. (Told you so.) Meanwhile, work buddy Danny Knobler (CBS Sports) calls the Dodgers "longshots."
SCRIPTUALS: Buster Olney's weekend scoopage: The Phillies ask for Shane Victorino is "very, very high." (A point Olney reiterated on Twitter Monday.) He's also pretty high on the sense in dealing Juan Pierre to the Reds.
Cole Hamels (11-4) has been credited with 28 percent of his team's wins this season (39), the highest such percentage in the majors. Only two other pitchers have earned at least a quarter of their team's victories. David Price has 12 of the Rays' 46 wins (26%), as does R.A. Dickey for the Mets (also 12 of 46).
STATISTICALS (Bob Brookover, Philly.c0m):
For the second consecutive game, Shane Victorino had an extra-base hit in the opening inning. Victorino had gone 98 plate appearances and 89 at-bats before hitting a one-out double in the first inning of Saturday night's 8-5 win over the Rockies. That was his first extra-base hit since June 13 in Minnesota, a remarkably long stretch for a player with his speed. He added an RBI triple in the ninth inning of that game. Victorino Sunday had a one-out triple off lefthander Drew Pomeranz before scoring on a two-out single by Carlos Ruiz in what became a 5-1 Phillies victory in the series finale at Coors Field.
