NCAA Roundup: Villanova Advances, St Joe’s Fall Short
Both Villanova and Saint Joseph played their Round of 32 games on Sunday. Here are the results:
Villanova wins convincingly 87-68 over number 7 seed Iowa
Jay Wright's Wildcats finished off the weekend with a strong win on Sunday which placed them back in the Sweet 16 for the first time in seven years. Led by Seniors Ryan Arcidiacono (16 Points, 4 Assists) and Daniel Ochefu (6 Points, 11 Rebounds, 3 Blocks) the Wildcats took command of the game early on and Iowa was unable to keep up. Villanova next plays on Thursday night versus the number 3 seed Miami Hurricanes.
St. Joe's fall short to number 1 seed Oregon in 69-64 loss
Saint Joseph had the lead late in the Second Half but were unable to score for over 3 minutes allowing Oregon to come back. DeAndre Bembry scored 14 of his 16 Points in the second half and grabbed 12 Rebounds while the Hawks shot a disappointing 38.6 Field Goal percentage. Phil Martelli's Hawks finish the season with 28-8 record after winning the 2016 Atlantic 10 Tournament.
