Nerlens Noel Needs Surgery for Injured Knee

It seemed unlikely that Sixers center Nerlens Noel was going to be ready to start the season on Wednesday night.What was thought to be a groin injury has turned into a minor surgical procedure to the same knee that he had ACL surgery on three years ago.

The team sent out a press release on Friday evening providing an update on Noel:

During the normal course of evaluation and treatment for his left adductor strain, which was identified on October 6, Noel reported localized soreness in his left knee. After consulting with multiple specialists, the source of the soreness was identified as inflamed plica. Noel has elected to address the injury via a minor surgical procedure in the coming days.
