PHILADELPHIA (973espn.com) - The NFL will announce Thursday it has selected the city of Philadelphia as host of the 2017 NFL Draft, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Congressman Bob Brady actually broke the news back in April that Philadelphia was in line to host the annual event, which was held in Chicago the prior two years after moving from its traditional home in New York City.

There are two schools of thought as far as future drafts, either the league will take it on the road every year and allow cities to bid for the right to host the festivities or permanently relocate it to the new Los Angeles stadium complex, which will include a campus for NFL Media, once construction is completed.

Ironically, the Eagles currently do not have a first-round pick in the 2017 draft after sending it to Cleveland in a package that allowed them to move up and select Carson Wentz at No. 2 overall in this year’s process.
