The Phillies will have just one player on the 2018 MLB All-Star squad.  Pitcher Aaron Nola will be one of the pitchers to take the ball for the National League.  But Nola alone will not be the only Phillies player in Washington D.C. for All-Star festivities.  Rhys Hoskins, though not selected as an All-Star, will participate in this year's Home Run Derby.

Major League Baseball announced this year's Home Run Derby contestants:

Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper will get the chance to participate, along with Hoskins, Jesus Aguilar, Max Muncy, Alex Bregman, Kyle Schwarber, Javy Baez and Freddie Freeman.  Hoskins and Aguilar will face off in the first round of the derby, which now operates in a bracket format.

The Phillies will have a representative in the Home Run Derby since 2009, when Ryan Howard represented the Phillies in St. Louis.  That was the fifth year in a row the Phillies had someone in the Home Run Derby.  Howard appeared (and won) in 2006 after Bobby Abreu won the derby in 2005.  Howard returned in 2007 and Chase Utley participated in 2008;.
