One of the biggest NFL injures on Sunday brought a former Holy Spirit standout one step closer to stepping on the field.

The Packers announced Aaron Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone Week 6 against the Vikings and today promoted quarterback Joe Callahan from their practice squad.

Painter has not appeared in a regular season game since being signed out of Wesley College, a Division III football school in 2016.

He’s bounced around the league, spending time with the Packers, Cleveland Browns, and, the new Orleans Saints. He was signed back to the Packers practice squad on Sept. 3.

The news comes after the Packers admitted that Aaron Rodgers could be done for the rest of the season.
