The Padres have had discussions about trading for Phillies ace Cole Hamels, a San Diego native, with newly acquired Wil Myers part of the package, that according to Ryan Lawrence of the Philadelphia Daily News.

It could be a good fit for Hamels and the Phillies, the Padres are not on his no-trade list and San Diego had very good depth in the outfield.

The Padres could make sense, they have been very active this offseason and have pulled off several blockbuster deals in the past week.  The have already added Myers, plus Justin Upton, Will Middlebrooks, Matt Kemp  and Derek Norris within the span of a few weeks.  So adding a pitcher with Hamels resume would make a lot of sense for the Padres.
