Paunil: Brandon Brooks One of Best Offensive Lineman Available
Thursday afternoon the Philadelphia Eagles held a press conference in which Doug Pederson and Howie Roseman spoke with the media. Also new Eagles Safety Rodney McLeod and Quarterback Chase Daniel where introduced for the first time as Eagles players.
Josh Paunil of PhillyMag.com attended the press conference and joined The Sports Bash with Mike Gill as he spoke about what Eagles Free Agent signing was the most important:
"Brandon Brooks is not the protypical Guard, meaning in terms of size: he's 6'5" and his weight is alittle more than 330 but he (Pederson) said you know what, it doesnt matter because quite simply he is one of the best offensive lineman out there available in free agency."
Paunil elaborated "(Brooks) is going to be a very good run blocker for them, I think he is a guy who is going to be a significant upgrade from Matt Tobin and what the Eagles have now"
Brandon Brooks was drafted by the Houston Texans with 76th overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft. The irony is that draft pick was acquired by Houston in a trade with the Eagles for Linebacker Demeco Ryans. Brooks has started 44 games over the last three seasons for the Texans.
Josh Paunil also spoke about what Doug Pederson said about Eagles Quarterback depth chart, why Chase Daniel was given a 3 year deal by Eagles, the influence of Jim Schwartz on personnel decisions, and what transactions Howie Roseman made that were the most important this offseason.
