Sidney Jones has played just one game in his short NFL career, appearing in the Eagles season finale last season against the Dallas Cowboys, making two tackles in his only game action.

However, Jones, a 2017 second-round pick, was highly impressive this preseason by breaking up four passes and just five catches for 39 yards on 10 targets.

It helped earn him a spot on Pro Football Focus’ 2018 All-Preseason Team.

Jones might well have been a first-round pick a year ago had it not been for injury, and he is on his way to proving the Eagles right for drafting him regardless with a big performance this August. Jones allowed five receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown from 10 targets, but the standout number for his this preseason is that of the five incompletions on throws into his coverage, four were a result of Jones getting a hand on the ball.

Many feel that Jones would have been a first-round selection, possibly even a top-10 pick, if not for a torn Achilles suffered during his Pro Day at the University of Washington.

Jones’ preseason grade of 90.7 was the third highest grade at the cornerback position.
