The Phillies have signed utility man Mike Fontenot to a minor league contract.  Not a bad move for depth with the Phillies missing both Chase Utley and Michael Martinez and rookie Freddy Galvis playing second base everyday.

Fontenot has experience playing second base, shortstop and third base and is a career .261 hitter and The 31-year-old batted .277 in 252 plate appearances with the Giants last year.
