Phillies Notes: Phillies Kicking the Tires on Lyle Overbay

Howard had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Phillies are among the teams talking to Lyle Overbay about a minor league deal.

The Phillies are obviously looking for some depth at the position in case Ryan Howard is not fully recovered from the injuries that have hampered him the past two seasons.  Overbay, who turns 37 later this month, batted .240/.295/.393 with 14 home runs over 486 plate appearances last year with the Yankees.
