The Philadelphia Phillies pitchers have really carried this team to a record of 18-7 for the month of June ahead of the action on Friday Night.  Ranger Suarez and Taijuan Walker have been incredible in the month of June with a combined 11 starts and the Phillies are 9-2 in their starts.  In their 69.1 innings pitched this month, the two have compiled 67 strikeouts while Suarez has a 1.08 ERA and Walker has a 1.50 ERA in June.  That is amazing!!  How come we haven’t heard people talk about these guys more?  Unfortunately, they will be overlooked because the baseball world will be turning their attention to the MLB All-Star coming up on July 11th at T Mobile Park in Seattle.  We know the Phillies will have at least one All-Star on the team this year, but there should be more!

The Flyers and the Sixers are stealing the headlines this week with the NHL Draft and NBA Free Agency in the news.  The Flyers drafted a goalscorer with the seventh overall pick, a 5'10" Russian Matvei Michkov who is pretty crafty with the puck and can score.  Then with the 22nd Overall pick, the Flyers selected Canadien Defenseman Oliver Bonk, who the is son of former NHL Forward Radek Bonk who played in 14 seasons in the league.

On Thursday evening, the Sixers were informed by James Harden that he will opt into his Player Option with the intention of having the team trade him this offseason.  This was a major surprise to many people, fans and media, so we will have to wait and see how this all plays out.  We will cover it all this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.

On Saturday’s show, Mike Carlin joins me in the studio as we will react to the latest Sixers news and the Phillies winning month of June.  The Washington Nationals come to town mired in last place in the National League East which means another opportunity for the Phils to pile up more wins!  In Hour Two is our weekly Beach Patrol Report brought to you by McCann Realtors of Sea Isle City and the Ocean City Beach Patrol Lifeguard Alumni Association.  We will speak with the president of the OCBP Lifeguard Alumni Association Jack Brooks and talk with former Chief of the Sea Isle Beach plus South Jersey Lifeguard Historian Tom McCann about the book he is currently writing.  Then we will talk with the Chief of the Wildwood Beach Patrol Steve Stock who will talk about his Patrol and the upcoming racing season.
