The Phillies placed pitcher Chad Billingsley on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 16, with a right shoulder strain.

To take his spot on the roster, the team recalled right-hander Hector Neris from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Billingsley was scheduled to pitch on Wednesday in Colorado, so the Phillies will have to find someone to fill that turn in the rotation, meaning Neris' stay with the big club could be short lived.  Neris has hurled 2 2/3 scoreless innings with the Phillies this season.

Its tough news for the former all-star, who pitched six innings of shutout ball against the Diamondbacks on Friday.  He's 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA and 1.63 WHIP this season, but after a two year layoff, he looked like might have been turning the corner.
