Ryan Howard received a cortisone shot in his left knee on Sunday and Carlos Ruiz was diagnosed with a Grade two strain of his right hamstring and is expected to miss three-to-four weeks.  Plus, pitxher Mike Adams was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right back strain.

The team purchased the contract of catcher Humberto Quintero from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to replace Ruiz on the roster.  Quintero will provide depth behind the plate for Philadelphia while Carlos Ruiz recovers from his right hamstring strain, while Eric Kratz will start most of the games.

The injury will likely leave Ruiz on the shelf until mid-to-late June. He'll be placed on the disabled list Tuesday to make room for Tyler Cloyd on the roster.  As for Adams, he has been battling the injury for close to two weeks and the Phillies finally decided to shut him down for a bit.

With Howard, the Phillies said that a "change" was found in his meniscus, as well as inflammation. Howard is considered day-to-day for now, but he could require a stint on the disabled list if he doesn't see improvement following the cortisone shot.
