The Phillies had two players in last night's futures game.  Ricardo Pinto represented the Phillies organization for the World team.   Dylan Cozens represented the Phillies organization for the U.S. team.   Unfortunately for Phillies fans, neither player was much of a factor in last night's game, each making short appearances.

Cozens, tied for the minor league lead in home runs, saw just one at bat.   Padres prospect Hunter Renfroe got the start in right field and got two at bats.  Renfroe is at Triple-A El Paso and batting .335 with 21 home runs.   Cozens replaced Renfroe in right field and was hitless in the one at bat during the game.

The World team starter was Alex Reyes of the Memphis Redbirds, the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.    Reyes went one and two-thirds innings for the World team.  However, the World saw 10 different pitchers throughout the course of the game, making almost every appearance a short one.   Pinto entered to open the sixth inning.  Pinto faced two batters and was replaced by Reynaldo Lopez of the Double-A Harrisburg Senators.

The Futures Game is held annually to highlight prospects in Minor League baseball.   The game is held at the site of the MLB All-Star Game two days prior to the All-Star game.  This is separate from the various minor league All-Star rosters, of which the Phillies are well-represented.
