Due to a mild right hamstring strain, Cole Hamels will not make his scheduled start tomorrow against the Cardinals, Phillippe Aumont will start in his place.

As I wrote about one month ago, Aumont was hoping for just one more shot in his new role as a starting pitcher with Lehigh Valley where he has pitched well in 10 starts he is 3-4 with a 2.35 ERA for the Iron Pigs.

Aumont has never made a start at the major league level and he owns a 6.13 career ERA pitching out of the bullpen.  The key piece of the 2009 deal that sent Cliff Lee to Seattle, Aumont has been a failure, but now he will have an opportunity to stick if he pitches well with the Phillies rotation being such a mess.

Meanwhile, for Hamels, the injury is being called a minor strain, so he should be good to make his next turn.
